Bands from all over the Midwest will come together to battle it out this weekend. On Saturday, September 24th, Forte Studios will host the inaugural Battle of the Bands event beginning at noon until a winner is crowned that evening. This event is new to Boone and hopes to attract a large enough audience to become an annual event and move to a larger venue in the future. The participating bands have high levels of enthusiasm they hope will rub off on the audience through their performances and spread the word about this type of festival-style concert and the community of Boone.
Don’t think this is your typical listening-only concert. Beginning with 12 bands, audience members will vote for which of the two bands on stage they prefer during the battle rounds until it is narrowed down to the final round. The finalists will give concert-style performances in the evening and a winner will ultimately be determined by a panel of judges and receive a $5,000 album recording from Forte Studios.
In addition to the musical performances, you can enjoy a beer tent with craft beer from Boone Valley Brewery and a Budweiser garden. The Boone public library in partnership with a few community volunteers will be holding kids’ activities centered around music from 2-4 p.m., including a Tardis display. If you want to grab a bite while downtown, the Masonic Mount Olive Lodge No.79 will be providing burgers, brats and drinks. Saturday, September 24. Forte Studios 927 6th St, Boone. 12 p.m. – 11 p.m. See you there!
