This is your invitation to remember fun times and make new memories. Loessfest 2016 is beautifully situated at the Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park right on the Missouri River in Council Bluffs.
The Celebration begins with a Half Marathon and 5K, and ends nine days later with Golffest-- which is exactly what the name implies. The extensive FREE entertainment lineup includes the Riverfront Block Party Saturday, featuring a returning family favorite: Disney Jr. Imagination Movers. Then on Sunday, Kool and the Gang is the much-anticipated big Loessfest concert. The Omaha Symphony and Fireworks, Bike the Bluffs event around town, the film Raiders of the Lost Ark, a free concert by The 70’s Show, and Taste of Omaha, all provide day after day of activities, music, food, food, food, and photo-ready fun.
Loessfest (pronounced Luss-fest) is an annual celebration of all the great things happening in and around Council Bluffs, including our defining geological feature, the Loess Hills. The Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park is an 85 acre preserve and recreational area located on the Iowa side of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge that spans the Missouri. Activities for Loessfest take place on the Great Lawn of the park and the amphitheater.
