Ames is the Place to do Your Holiday Shopping!

Can you believe it’s already time to start that holiday shopping list?! Lucky for you, there are plenty of fun and unique shops in Ames, where you can find that perfect gift for someone special. Whether you are looking for that one-of-a-kind item, a great bargain, or a locally created piece of art, you will have a great time exploring all the diverse shopping districts throughout the Ames community.

Start your morning off in the Somerset area in North Ames. Grab a fresh cup of coffee from The Café and walk across the street to Coe’s Floral and Gifts. As one of Central Iowa’s largest home décor and gift stores, Coe’s Floral and Gifts has no problem helping you find a gift that fits every occasion.

Grab a mid-morning snack or that second cup of coffee because you'll need to be fully charged when shopping in the Ames Main Street Cultural District. Head over to Worldly Goods, a unique, non-profit store that sells fair trade items from more than 50 different countries around the world. You can find everything from homemade jewelry, clothing, coffee, chocolate, and more! During the month of November and the beginning of December, Worldly Goods will donate 15-20% of the proceeds to various groups and associations.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Small Business Saturday on November 28! Celebrate the local businesses by shopping “small” while also enjoying great deals many of the stores plan to offer.

Need to stock up on the Iowa State apparel? Head over to Campustown and get lost in all the cardinal and gold. Campustown Spirit, a new Campustown addition, features stylish clothing designs and accessories that are perfect gift ideas for those die-hard cyclone fans.

To end your day, visit the North Grand Mall, home to a variety of national retailers, specialty boutiques, restaurants and service providers that sell everything from clothing and accessories to beauty products, gadgets, toys and jewelry. You’ll have no problem finding exactly what you need to finish off that long holiday shopping list.

These are just a few great shops in Ames that offer a variety of creative and unique gift ideas, but trust me, there is much more! Make sure to head out and experience all the exciting things Ames has to offer!
