The Picturesque Sights of Bluff Country in Autumn Make Great Selfies!

Don’t let this chilly fall weather slow you down! Take a road trip to see the spectacular views of Clayton County!

Whether you're a planner or more of a "go where the road takes me" type, head right this way! Have your camera charged and ready! When traveling on the River Bluffs Scenic Byway or the Great River Road, both have breathtaking views of this Bluff Country. Pull over for incredible selfies or landscape shots of the picturesque views that surround you. A beautiful array of autumn colored leaves provide stunning texture along the rocky limestone bluffs that act as their backdrop. Hug the curves highway as they wind steep hills and valleys. Expect to zig-zag, your way through vibrant, unique Northeast Iowa. Notice cattle roaming on lush green pastures punctuated by golden cornfields. Creeks and streams abound here and as of late, seem more like tiny wild rivers flowing by. Speaking of rivers, don't miss the mighty Mississippi River on your road trip. The view is fantastic this time of year!

Along the way, pick from any number of small-town communities to stop and stretch your legs. Visit unique shops, mouthwatering restaurants, historical museums, and spacious parks in the countryside. Enjoy your fall adventure in Clayton County. You might even find yourself snapping the perfect shot for your holiday card. We'll see you on the Great River Road!
