Chicago theatre is coming to Ames with a special performance of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” The show will be performed by the GreatWorks Theatre Company out of the windy city at Ames City Auditorium, 515 Clark Street, on Saturday, October 20, hosted by Ames Parks and Recreation Department.
In this modern adaptation of the old classic, Ichabod Crane is the new schoolmaster in town, but his snooty cosmopolitan ways rub some of the residents of Sleepy Hollow the wrong way. Plus, he’s getting awfully close to marrying Katrina Van Tassel, inheriting her father’s farm in the bargain. To get rid of him, the villagers will make sure that “Icky” meets their local legend – The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow!
This is a great all-ages show, blending the goofy and the spooky, with lots of interactivity for kids and parents. Not too scary for kindergarteners, but still jokey enough for middle-schoolers.
Adult tickets are $10, and children ages 10 and under are $8. Tickets may be purchased in person at the City of Ames Community Center or with a credit card by calling 515.239.5350. Tickets can also be purchased online with a small service fee.
GreatWorks Theatre Company presents theatrical and educational performances throughout the Midwest and reached nearly 45,000 students and audience members in 2017/18.
