The Sweet Corn Days celebration begins with an ice-cream social at St. Joseph’s Parish Center on Thursday, July 26, from 5-7 P.M. Enjoy a delicious pulled pork or turkey dressing sandwich with coleslaw, potato salad, milk, or lemonade, and of course ice-cream. Watch the judging of Sweet Corn Days Royalty.
A Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held Thursday through Saturday at the Elkader Library.
At Founders Park, family fun abounds from 6-9 P.M., along with the crowning of Sweet Corn Royalty. Multiple local and specialty food vendors will be available. Families can enjoy rides and games, a zip line, a dunk tank, human foosball, gladiator jousting, inflatable dodgeball, train rides, face painting, and an inflatable toddler zone. From 6-11 P.M., adults can partake in the beer garden with live music by Lonesome Road. The sky lights up with a fireworks display over the Turkey River at dusk.
Saturday, July 28, starts off with Shed Your Thread Run/Walk, 5K and 10K. Registration is at 7 A.M. at Freedom Banks gravel parking lot. At 10 A.M. in the banks’ community, room, the Quilts of Valor Awards will take place.
Founders Park will have FREE Bend and Booze at 10 A.M. It's one hour of beginner’s yoga followed by your pick of adult beverages including mimosas, bloody marys, or spiked coffee. All ages are welcome. Just bring your yoga mat. The family fun will continue from 3 - 6:30 P.M. with multiple activities for you to enjoy, along with a bean bag tournament starting at 3:30 P.M. And what’s Sweet Corn Days without FREE Sweet Corn at 4 P.M. Come to enjoy some buttery summertime goodness at Elkader’s celebration.
Cornstock 2018 starts with the opening of the beer garden at 8 P.M. and live music by Vice Box at 9 P.M.
