Summer dreams are made of sand and sun, and that's exactly what I found at Lake Icaria in Corning! It all started with Breakfast at the Beach on Sunday morning at 8 am. They had the best biscuits and gravy around! The sandy beach is very close and is perfect for building those sand castles, playing volleyball, soaking up the sun, or making a big splash. The marina also has boat rentals, bait, tackle, fishing licenses, drinks and snacks for your sunny day.
Keep the little ones happy with Kids Money Grab Night and Whelen Engineering Night at the Adams County Speedway on Saturday, July 14th. Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.
Looking for more of an indoor adventure? Come on over to the Corning Opera House, open Monday through Friday afternoons or by appointment by calling 641.418.8037.
Have you ever dreamed of being on stage yourself? The Opera House in Corning features the only raked stage in the state of Iowa! Take in the Opry Show on July 22 with Jerry McIntyre, who’s living his dream of performing. Next up is the annual quilt show on Saturday, July 28. A bed without a quilt is like a sky without stars.
Don’t let your summer dreams just be dreams. Make them happen! Why not plan a visit to Johnny Carson’s birthplace? Walk the floors where Johnny first learned to walk. See where his humble beginnings began, and how he spread his wings and flew to stardom on The Tonight Show.
