As the trees begin to blossom here in northeast Iowa, the Spillville Public Library is celebrating with a spring tea! Bring the whole family to this delightful afternoon social. Spring Tea and Treats will be held at the library community room on Sunday, April 30 at 2:00- 4:00 p.m. Sit down to a lovely decorated table with tea and scrumptious treats. Honor that special person in your life with some quality time. Make this an early Mother’s Day surprise! Last year we took my mother to this special event, not realizing how special the day would be. A few months later she wasn’t with us any longer. Take the time to do something special for those loved ones. What fun we had watching those cute little girls all dressed up, having a tea party with their mothers! Share a special memory that will last a lifetime. Watch your little one’s eyes light up, dressed in their finest as they spend a few hours in your company.
Plan ahead with your friends and family. Maybe Grandma would like a corsage, as you honor all that she has done for you and your family. You may want to take this opportunity to put on that fabulous spring dress you just bought, or maybe you want to go all out and get yourself one of those big, floppy hats like you've seen on television at the Kentucky Derby. Maybe you belong to the "Red Hat Society" and your group plans on coming. Maybe casual dress is your style. It's all up to you. Whatever you do, it will be special because you are taking the time to be with friends and family.
The cost is only $5 each for all ages. Pre-reservations are not required, but much appreciated. You can RSVP by calling the library at 563-562-3273 (feel free to leave a message if after hours) or send an email to email@example.com. Lemonade and coffee will also be served.
You can also so mark your calendars for the Book and Bake Sale and Used Book Sale to be held Saturday, May 6 from 8-to noon. The staff is making room for new books to line the shelves and is asking for a free-will donation for the old reads. The library did a massive weeding project last year and still has many books that need a good home. With warmer weather soon upon us, it is a great time to lounge and read outside while basking in the warm sunshine! Stock up for a summer reading. Used books are great to take along for summer travels. Come early for the best selection of baked goods and books! The library is located at 201 Oak Street. Don't leave without getting some homemade goodies at the bake sale too!
