Snowshoeing + Scenic Trails = A Healthier YOU

The white fluffy snow is plentiful here in Clayton County. Let’s get outside and enjoy it while it lasts! Snowshoeing in the winter wonderland has many benefits, so go explore the beautiful scenic trails in Backbone State Park, Osborne Visitor, Nature & Welcome Center, Pikes Point State Park, and along Pony Hollow Trail.

As you glide through the snow distributing your weight over the large snowshoe, breath in the fresh cool country air. It’s like walking on white fluffy clouds. Admire the glorious sights that surround you in the winter wonderland when the sun shines brightly on the ice crystals and leaves a colorful snow dog in the morning light. Look for animal tracks. After all, not all critters take a long winter nap. Will there be a furry rabbit or a deer nibbling on tree bark? Notice how the snow sits on the limbs of trees, making it look like they've been dusted with powdered sugar. Listen closely to hear the trickle of water. Or are the creeks and streams all frozen over? Nature’s beauty, no matter what season, is breathtaking!

The amazing scenery and picturesque trails aren't the only benefits for you. It's a fantastic way to exercise, burn calories, and be heart-healthy. So, let's enjoy the winter wonderland while it lasts.
