Saddle up the horses! The 70th Annual Whistlin’ Bit Saddle Club Trail Ride will take place Sunday, October 14th. Trail riders will leave from Elkader City Park from the horses' barn at 11 a.m. sharp! The scenic journey ends at the historic site Motor Mill.
Be part of a picturesque trail ride through the beautiful autumn colored leaves and rocky limestone bluffs of Clayton County.
As you arrive, trucks and horse trailers will be slowly lining up. Riders then will saddle up. Mount up for an adventurous ride ahead. Ride through wooded valleys and newly picked corn-fields at your own pace. Enjoy the silence, beauty, and sounds of nature. Catch glimpse of wild turkeys, a deer nibbling on fresh grass, or geese honking as they fly south before the winter season. Next, stretch your legs with a stroll on down to the Turkey River. Get your horse a cool drink of water and let them graze on the grass nearby. Walk over to the Clayton Counties Historical Motor Mill and admire the construction of this structure built in 1869.
As the day winds down, relish in memory-making and the gorgeous fall colors of the Northeast Iowa the country-side, the fresh crisp breeze, and sweet local music in the air.
