If you’re a keen movie goer with an interest in visiting famous Hollywood film locations, you might want to take a trip to Dyersville, just 25 miles west of Dubuque, Iowa. Here you’ll find the “Field of Dreams” movie site which is now a major attraction that’s a great stop for family days out.
This classic film which starred Kevin Costner was shot in 1988. The Hollywood film crew built a baseball diamond specifically for the film in what was originally just a cornfield. Now the site welcomes over 50,000 visitors every year! It’s a real fun stop for the family. You can even have a game of baseball with the kids if you want to! Why not watch the movie before you go so that your visit is put into context?
Throughout the summer months a local baseball team really gets into the spirit of the site. They put on a game for visitors and even turn out dressed in period costume, just like in the movie! There’s also a gift shop on-site so that you can take away a memento of your visit.
When you’ve finished your visit to the site, there are plenty of other attractions and lodgings within reach.
The Field of Dreams Movie Site is open every day (weekends only during November). Full details of opening hours, and the program of events held can be found on the website together with a downloadable brochure.
The Field of Dreams Movie Site is located in Dyersville, Iowa 52040 at 28963 Lansing Road, tel: 1 888 875 8404.
The Field of Dreams Movie Site is great for a short visit and photo opportunity but won’t fill a whole day. There are many other attractions located nearby, however, together with suitable lodgings to suit any budget. Why not take your family back in time for a few hours and pretend to be movie stars?
