Established in 2015, Market on Main is a multi-vendor indoor facility that contains international food vendors that include Mexican, Philippino, brick oven pizza treats, and a full-service bar and coffee house. Executive Director David Camphouse is working to bring in more vendors that represent more of Ottumwa’s ethnic communities from locales such as Ethiopia and Myanmar. In addition, the facility has numerous craft vendors that feature Iowa-made products. Market on Main also offers entertainment and events to reflect different tastes and interests that include wine pairings, comedy nights, Latin dance nights, and a wide range of local musicians.
For visitors, a stop at Market on Main offers not only unique international dining, entertainment, and shopping, but gives them a true “go where the locals go” experience. Known as “Ottumwa’s Time Square”, the Market serves as a gathering place for the entire community and is the centerpiece of downtown Ottumwa’s renaissance. Mr. Camphouse says that the greatest part of his job is with working with small businesses to help them fulfill their visions and recognize their potential.
