New Hilton Hotel Opens its Doors in Des Moines

Hilton, the leading global brand of full-service hotels and resorts, has just revealed to the world its latest addition to its growing portfolio of world-class hotel brands. The latest addition, Hilton Des Moines Downtown hotel, has finally opened its door in Iowa.

Situated in the very heart of downtown Des Moines, Hilton Des Moines Downtown will be the city’s first convention center-connected hotel, providing the most convenient accommodation option for convention attendees. It’s the only hotel directly connected to the Iowa Events Center, which includes a world-class convention center and the iconic Wells Fargo center.

Additionally, the newly revealed hotel is also surrounded by some of the city’s major business establishments and great dining places. It also located near downtown attractions like the Pappajohn Sculpture, Farmer’s Market, and Iowa State Capitol.

What to expect from the newly launched hotel

As mentioned in the company's press release, the new hotel will provide lots of space, around 14,000 square feet of meeting space, including 10,000 square-foot ballroom that also offers an idyllic outdoor terrace. The tech-focused hotel will be equipped with touchscreen navigation signage, digital check-in, smart window lighting, ClickShare technology in every boardroom, USB ports throughout its spacious hotel lobby, and a tech lounge with a superfast internet connection.

The new hotel also features some locally inspired touches, which include a rotating art exhibit and an artwork, which created by local and regional artists. It’s also the only place in Des Moines that features natural light in every meeting room.

Aside from a plethora of tech features, the Hilton Des Moines Downtown Hotel is also home to Park Street Kitchen, a modern restaurant featuring dishes created with locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients and Des Moines' only outdoor, patio fireplace. The Park Street Kitchen will be led by Chef Nick Marino, who also worked before at Hilton's acclaimed Waldorf Astoria Chicago.

In addition, Hilton Des Moines Downtown hotel is also part of Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest loyalty program for Hilton’s hotel brand. Members of the Hilton Honors will have an access to benefits, which include a flexible payment tool, an exclusive member discount, free standard WiFi and exclusive access to Hilton Honors mobile app.

The newly constructed hotel is expected to attract large-scale meetings and event to the city. More importantly, it will spur additional economic activity for the city of Des Moines. The new Hilton hotel is located at 435 Park Street.

Downtown Des Moines is a great place to explore. Fong's Pizza is there, of course, and -- for those with thick wallets -- Magnolia Wine Kitchen and Americana. It's worth a trip to Des Moines whenever Aimee Beckmann-Collier is leading a Drake University chorus in performance.
