Marquette's Railroad Days and Grape Harvest Happening September 15th

Fall in Clayton County is amazing. Here, the railroad runs and grapes become wine. In fact, you should come to Marquette on September 15th for Railroad Days and Grape Harvest Weekend.

Travel on the River Bluff Scenic Byway to admire the green trees as the leaves are turning in the most beautiful colors. You'll feel peaceful as you meander through the rolling hills and limestone bluffs. Drive to this small river town of Marquette to experience the nostalgia of the railroading “Golden Age.” Visit the Marquette Depot Museum which is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how the local railroad created and shaped the town from 1860’s to present. Browse around the museum viewing historical photos and artifacts, even walk in a train car from the past. Stop into the gift shop for a unique souvenir to take home with you. Plus, the American Legion Post 305 will provide you with a tasty treat to eat. Many area businesses have participated in an upcoming raffle drawing. Enter and take a chance to win

Other fun activities include:

  • 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Character Drawings with John Mudt
  • 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Barrel Ride for the kids
  • 11 a.m.: Performance by the Hole In the Sock Gang
  • 1-2 p.m.: Stories and Remembrances
  • 2 p.m.: Steam Locomotive Movie

Later, head on over to Eagles Landing Winery, a place with the motto “You may walk in a stranger, you but leave as a friend”. It's their Grape Harvest Weekend. Relax in this Iowa countryside vineyard with a glass of your favorite award-winning wine. Wander out and sit in a Wine Garden where you can sip slowly and savor as you listen to live music by The Bruce Bearinger Band from 1-4 p.m.

Take a road trip to Marquette for amazing views, rich history, tasty food, delicious wine, and great music.
