Temperatures are colder, the days are shorter, and the first snow has fallen. It's winter in Iowa! Come to the FREE Holiday Walk by the Clayton County Conservation at Osborne Park and Welcome Center by Elkader, on December 6th from 6 to 8 pm. Reservations are required, so please call 563-245-1516.
Dreaming up ideas for school snow days? Head over the hills and through the snow covered roads to Osborne Park. Learn why snow is such an important part of nature. Explore the great outdoors in the icy-cold fresh air. See your breath as you take a short hike through the evergreen forest. Walk the nature trail, crunching twigs and leaves with every step. Following your hike, head into the Welcome Center to warm up. Sip on a hot cup of cocoa and nibble on homemade cookies. Listen to Christmas music by the Madrigal Choir of Central High School.
What an educational and fun way for families to spend time together outdoors in the winter season!
This is a FREE event, but a donation of bird seed such as thistle or black oil sunflower seeds is appreciated.
