Have you experienced the amazing sight when the sky lights up with fireworks sparkling over the Mississippi River? Come to Guttenberg or Marquette on June 30th, to celebrate the 4th of July early. Two Iowa communities along the banks of the mighty Mississipp have planned family-fun activities for the holiday.
The Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce will put on a wonderful “Reelin’ in Summer Fun,” stars and stripes celebration on Saturday, June 30, 2018, on River Park Drive. “Reelin’ in Summer Fun” starts off with a 5K Walk/Run, fish painting in the gazebo, a bag tournament, watermelon eating contest, catfish selfie contest, BINGO, and rock climbing. The parade will start at 7:00 P.M. Show your Independence Day spirit and be part of the parade, and you may win a cash prize. Enjoy great food, cool drinks, and live music by “After Party-DJ.” The fireworks will light up the sky over the water once the sun sets.
The Marquette Chamber of Commerce also has an incredible day of activities planned for your enjoyment on Saturday, June 30th. Start off with a Flea Market under the bridge. Browse around to find something unique that meets your needs. There will be a parade at 11:00 A.M. The American Legion will host a food stand and a raffle drawing. Take a chance to win some cash and great prizes. Enjoy wine from 1-4 P.M., when Eagles Landing Winery will host live music by Nathan Rickesten. Fireworks begin at dusk.
