New Year's resolutions getting you down? Maybe it's time to stop and smell the chocolate.
Greater Burlington offers a delicious variety of opportunities for midwinter indulgence, some of which will be showcased on February 9 at the annual downtown Chocoholic Frolic. Whether you're looking for one-of-a-kind treats for a special Valentine or treating yourself, you'll find your fix in Greater Burlington.
A $10 ticket ($12 on event day) for Chocoholic Frolic will get you 11 chocolaty tasting experiences, from the s'mores bar at Pinned It Creations (there might be a line for this one) to the chocolate wine (yes, wine!) and "Oinks" (if you're guessing chocolate covered bacon, you guessed right) at The Iowa Store.
Even more rewarding is the fact that each tasting location also offers unique shopping opportunities. The Loft houses a Fair-Trade market with clothing, jewelry, textiles, and more from around the world. You can snag the Spider-Verse soundtrack at Weird Harold's, scratch your resale itch at Hopefully Yours or stock up on essentials and essential oils, at Nature's Corner.
Once you've satisfied your sweet tooth and filled your valentine goodie bags, warm up with a special showing of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at Burlington's gorgeously restored Capitol Theater. Shows are at 5 and 7 p.m. and admission is just $6.
If you can't make it to the Chocoholic Frolic - or if your ideal indulgence contains fewer calories – Greater Burlington offers a bouquet of ways to reward yourself for all those first part of the year sacrifices.
Show yourself some love with a spa day. You’ll be ready for spring after a relaxing massage, rejuvenating facial, and a gorgeous mani-pedi at The Spa at Catfish Bend – which just happens to be surrounded by indulgent opportunities at the PZAZZ! Entertainment Complex. At PZAZZ! you’ll find fun and games for players of every age and dining options for every taste, plus an indoor pool and hot tub to transport you to warmer climes.
If what you love is a traditional date night, try dinner and a show – Greater Burlington offers all the variety of a big city with the local charm of a small town. You can choose from dozens of dining options, from Caribbean, to sushi, and all tastes in between. After dinner, head to The Players Workshop, where unique entertainment is the standard fare.
