Are you looking for a unique place to visit on a Saturday? How about homegrown food that is produced and marketed entirely in the heart of the Midwest? Travel along the mighty Mississippi River on the scenic Great River Road to Clayton Ridge Farm Meat and Gift Shop in Guttenberg.
Clayton Ridge Farm Meat Market and Gift Shop are located in the heart of the historic downtown area in an old 1846 limestone warehouse on the banks of the Mississippi River. Tom and Jane Augustyn are the proud owners who operate this quaint shop.
The Picket Fence Cafe is a cozy old-fashioned café where fresh and natural vegetables are used to prepare dishes from recipes handed down through generations. First up, try their mouthwatering barbequed pork shoulder, prepared in their smoker. And what goes best with barbequed meat? Baked Beans, of course. Specifically, Jane’s famous Calico Baked Beans are a tasty side dish. Another fantastic side dish here is the German Potato Salad. One bite and you can’t help want more. And save room for some dessert! The home-made pie is to die for, just like grandma used to make.
Before you leave, check out the gift shop! Snag some gourmet mustards, caramel corn (made fresh and packaged), dip mixes, specialty salsas (like peach or pineapple), and real fruit jams and jellies.
Have a special event in the future? Clayton Ridge Farm Meat Market and Gift Shop also does catering. They can meet all of your needs. Just give them a call them at (563)252-3820 (at the store) or (563)252-1938 (on the farm), or send them an email.
