Light up the night and have a great kickoff to the holiday season with Osceola Chamber Main Street!
On Saturday, December 3rd, Osceola Chamber Main Street is hosting Holiday Brilliance in downtown Osceola. There will be some great food, caroling, shopping, and more, so bring the whole family down for a fun-filled afternoon and evening this holiday season. Not sure what you are getting your special someone for the holidays yet? Have too many presents to buy and not enough ideas? Visit the great stores we have in the community. The businesses have some amazing staff who have impressive ideas about what would work great for the person or people in your life. Stores are open all day, so don't wait until the event to come down and start looking around! We will be having a Vendor Fair starting at 3pm at the Senior Center and we will be offering a lot of homemade goods and crafts for you to browse. Additionally, we are hosting a Holiday Shopping Scavenger Hunt. Teaming up with businesses in the downtown, you can get a card with different items to find in the stores downtown. Not only will this help you get around to all of the stores, but you can get some great deals and win prizes when you return your fully-stamped card back in at the Senior Center! We are also hosting a Business Window Display Contest, so don't forget to vote for your favorite storefront window. The business with the best window decorations gets a $150 value prize! The Vendor Fair and Scavenger Hunt go until 8pm.
And don't worry about getting fatigued with lack of food. Starting at 4pm, we will be hosting a Soup/Chili and Baked Goods Contest at the American Legion Hall. For $5, you can get a wristband that allows you access to tasting all of the goodies. Celebrate the holidays in Osceola by eating with some of the best cooks around! From soup to chili to cookies and cakes, the holiday season has never been tastier! Also, at 4pm, we will be hosting the Christmas Cutie contest at the bandstand. Think your little one is the sugarplum of the season? Bring him or her to the bandstand and get registered by 4pm. (You can also register in advance by calling Samantha Horton at the Osceola Chamber Main Street office at 641-342-4200 or emailing her at email@example.com). There will be different age brackets and the winners will be announced at 5pm. The winners of the Christmas Cutie contest get to ride with Santa in the Lighted Parade!
I know most of you are probably questioning if you read that right, but yes, we are bringing back the Lighted Christmas Parade this year! The winners of the Christmas Cutie contest will meet up with Santa and ride his sleigh through the downtown as part of the parade! Interested in being part of the parade? You can go to our website and download the parade form or stop by the Osceola Chamber Main Street office and fill one out. (While the form says entries are due by November 14th, we are extending that date until Wednesday, November 23rd). The parade line up will start at the First Christian Church parking lot next to Dollar General at 4pm. The parade will start at 5:30pm. Make sure your float is well lit and see if you can dazzle the crowd the most!
After the parade, Santa will return to the Santa House by the bandstand. (He and Mrs. Claus will be doing pictures there before and after the event). Santa will help magically light the square, bringing a dazzling ambiance to the downtown and then will sit back and listen to the Clarke Elementary choir sing some Christmas carols. Pastor Chuck DeVos will tell the Christmas story and Mrs. Claus will read 'Twas The Night Before Christmas.' After the reading is done, winners for the different contests and scavenger hunts will be announced. Throughout the evening, there will be tractor rides around the downtown as well, bringing back great memories of hayrack rides from Christmases past!
This is a great and fun way to have a family-friendly holiday event and support local business through the holiday season. We hope to see you all there!
