Do you enjoy the thrill of a good ghost story? How about the adrenaline rush of a haunted house? If that doesn’t spark any interest, then maybe just a classic Halloween film will suffice. The month of October is jam-packed with spooky events in Greater Burlington!
Burlington Memorial Auditorium will be hosting a Haunted Auditorium with four floors of terror. While waiting in line, there will be a video of real testimonials from locals who have experienced paranormal activity in the Auditorium. Think you have what it takes to conquer the different stories of horror?
Goosebumps will be expected on Jefferson Street in Downtown Burlington while discovering a little ghoulish history of Southeast Iowa at Haunted Jefferson - Ghost Walk. Each participating store will be passing out ghost stories to create a keepsake Burlington book of ghost tales. A ghost or two might even be handing out treats and deals! Halloween isn’t just for the kids!
If there's a brave soul in the group, send them to Stony Hollow Road. Legend has it that this lonely road just outside of town is haunted by a woman named Lucinda. She reportedly threw herself off a cliff after learning her husband ran out on her. Be warned, should her ghost appear, and she lay a rose at your feet, you will meet your demise the following day!
For the timid crowd, stop at the restored Art Deco theater for popcorn and a movie. The Capitol Theater will show popular thrillers with beer, wine and full concessions available. The well known Hocus Pocus, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and House on Haunted Hill are just a few of the films scheduled! Check out their Facebook page for the full schedule of October movies.
