The fourteenth annual Art Walk is taking over Waverly, Iowa on May 4, 2019, and I have to say, I am excited. I have never been to the event but I am planning on showing up. The walk takes place at Kohlman Park in Waverly, Iowa from 10am to 4pm.
What is the art walk?
The Art Walk is an event created in 2006 where artists come together to show and sell their art including ceramics, paintings, jewelry, sculptures and more! There will be food vendors, kids' activities and live music as well. The event is free and open to the public.
Paul Imolte will be the musician this year. He will play his cart full of instruments on and off. Paul is often known as the "Stringman" as he can play a multitude of stringed instruments. He will play and stroll across the park from 10am to 3pm. His list of instruments includes the hammered dulcimer. He will also sing and play his fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, autoharp, and jaw harp. WOW! This guy can do it all.
Should the weather turn sour, the Waverly-Shell Rock High School Bock Gym will be used as a backup location. The Art Walk is co-sponsored by the Waverly Chamber Of Commerce and the City of Waverly.
With more than 30 Midwest artists, I fully expect the park to be packed, but don't let that discourage you from coming this year or in the years to come. Waverly is an extremely friendly and welcoming community with many downtown shops to spend your time in too! The shops will also be having a Spring Retail Open House called "Let's Flamingle" May 4th as well. This event includes great deals and games! Participating stores include; B.E. Micks, The Butcher Block, Clothesline Boutique, CawDaddy Outdoors, Love and Lace, Moe and Arrow Boutique, Pink Daisy Boutique, Poshly Picked Boutique, Renewed Purpose, Root, Tenenbaum's Jewelry, Thompson Shoes, and The Wild Carrot. Wow! That's a lot!! Which means a lot of good deals!! Sounds like a couple great events to be apart of, support, and participate in! I hope to see you there!
