French Doesn't Always Mean Fancy at Le Jardin

Does French food sound fancy and intimidating? Le Jardin is here to tell you it doesn’t have to be!

Located in the Beaverdale neighborhood of Des Moines, Le Jardin is a French bistro that doesn’t  think French food has to mean fine dining.  Throwing aside the white tables cloths and stuffy atmpshpere, Chef Tag Grandgeorge prides himself on offering farm fresh, French fare that is approachable and affordable.  At Le Jardin food is the focus and our food philosophy says it all:

Le Jardin’s menu is fresh with inspiration and ideas and an approach that is grounded in proper and basic French technique. We are proud to be a scratch kitchen offering definitively French, bistro style fare. The rustic yet polished presentation of cuisine uses cavalier combinations and embraces a variety of flavor profiles.

Our cuisine manifesto is hinged on local, seasonal and sustainable ingredients. The pantry is stocked with ingredients from the gardens of friends, family, local farmers and regional producers; bringing the abundance of the field to your table. Le Jardin adheres to a very organic operational model allowing us to participate in the planning, planting, cultivating, growing and harvesting cycles of independent, organic and local community farms.  At Le Jardin, if it is not from the garden, rest assured you can trust the authenticity of the products available.

Menu items range from delicious, crispy flatbreads (the Tarte Flambé is a must), soups, salads to a variety of different entrees.  Le Jardin’s menu changes seasonally and the spring menu can be found here. Current entrees include Almond and Pistachio Crusted Cod, Beef Short Ribs and the Sweet Potato and Brie Omelet.

Next time you are in Des Moines, go French!
