One entry fee and you can do every activity, if you choose, at the park in Des Moines. The haunted houses here range from mild (still terrifying) to scary (AKA "I just deafened the person next to me by screaming in horror.") Even when you are not in the haunted house, there are still ghosts and ghouls that follow you around the park. There is also a zombie laser tag and a haunted maze.
Ready for a worthwhile trip to Waterloo? This is the largest haunt in Iowa and they make you fear for your well-being throughout the duration of your time there. With ten, yes, I said ten different terror-themed areas, you will most likely be running scared to your car.
3. Scream Acres:
If you haven’t seen enough clowns already this Halloween season, visit this spooktacular scene in Atkins. Their 2,000-square-foot “clown chaos” attraction will put you at your wits’ end. While I was there, the clowns may have been laughing, but I surely was not. This scare park has three other attractions, including the fan favorite haunted cornfield.
4. Thrasher’s House of Terror:
This haunt in Mt. Pleasant is flat out scary. Blood, gore, and so much more waits inside this haunted house. I would tell you I had lost my voice from screaming, but it was gone before I got in the door. This is a trip you don’t want to miss.
5. Scare Central:
Last but not at all less horrific is Scare Central Sioux City. This town is home to three different haunted houses:
Visitors of Sioux City are able to just pick one, or visit all three if they dare!
Looking for terror big or small, these Iowa haunts will answer your call… or the Ghostbusters will. Happy Halloween!
