Lighted Christmas Parade, Cherokee (December 6)
The Wonderful World of Christmas lighted parade takes place down Historic Main Street. Cherokee's own Celebrity Scrooge serves as Grand Marshall. Santa and Mrs. Claus bring up the end of the parade to officially usher in the Christmas season.
Scuba Santa at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, Dubuque (December 8-9)
Santa scuba dives with Dot the green sea turtle from 11 a.m. to Noon both days. On Saturday, sharks are available for meet and greets in the mobile tank. The 3D/4D theater shows Kung Fu Panda Holiday twice both days.
A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage, Cedar Falls (December 9)
Peanuts characters come to life in this all-new touring stage adaptation set to Vince Guaraldi's unforgettable music at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Join the gang as they put on their own Christmas play and discover the true meaning of the season.
Winter Downtown Farmers' Market, Des Moines (December 14-15)
More than 130 vendors provide the perfect chance to stock up for holiday meals, parties and gift giving. Fresh handmade products include locally produced honey, jams, salsa, wine, cheese, breads and pies. In addition, fresh-cut Christmas trees, wreaths, holiday ornaments and home decorations are also available.
