Fishing is a great way to unwind and enjoy the countryside and fresh air. Most of Iowa’s wonderful state parks have fishable waters and regularly run fishing tournaments and other events for seasoned anglers. Enjoy a regatta
Iowa’s many natural lakes host some wonderful sailing events during the summer months. Even if you are not an experienced sailor or boat owner, you’ll enjoy the watching the captivating spectacle of races, regattas and sailing championships that take place each week. Head for the trails
Iowa boasts over 500 miles of hiking trails right across its forests and state parks and the summer days are the perfect time to enjoy getting back to nature. You can pack up a picnic, put on your hiking boots and walk for a day, cycle if you prefer, or perhaps take to the trails on horseback. Many of the trails and facilities are also wheelchair accessible.
