Fields of Screams in Council Bluffs

Combine the screams and costumes of Halloween with the non-stop fun of playing fall soccer, and you get Halloween Havoc!

Council Bluffs’ autumn soccer tournament is awesome fun for young competitors. Playing soccer and celebrating Halloween is the perfect combination to draw teams from outside the area. Teams of boys and girls from U9 through U14 compete for tournament trophies, costume awards, and more. They bring a high level of soccer play and competitive spirit. All teams are encouraged to coordinate team costumes. Pumpkin decorating, coaches costume, and candy counting contests add to the Halloween festivities.

Each year, approximately 165 teams go head-to-head during the three-day tournament. That’s a far cry from the two dozen teams who participated in the beginning.

The Council Bluffs Futbol Club formed in the spring of 2005. Just three years later, the CBFC organized the very first Halloween Havoc. Earlier this year, CBFC merged with the Council Bluffs Youth Soccer Association to form the Council Bluffs Soccer Club, now the largest soccer club in Iowa.

The CBSC goals are to teach soccer players to become good athletes, leaders, and citizens. The club also develops professional coaches, encourages the highest level of youth competition, and promotes personal responsibility, fair play, and fun.
