Springtime is here! Warmer weather means the snow is melting, the geese are flying back in their V formation, and the trees will soon be blossoming.
For many, this means the beginning of camping season. Here in Clayton County, there are many scenic places nestled in the rocky limestone bluffs and rolling hills to camp. A popular destination point is the Deer Run Resort in Elkader. There are over 80 full-service RV sites, tent sites, and a spacious cottage that will sleep up to eight guests.
After the long winter we've had being cooped up in our homes, we can't think of a better way to get outdoors and have some family fun! Make plans to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the beauty of new life blossoming this spring.
Once you've set up camp, head out to explore the area on a hike or bike ride. Take a path and go at your own pace. You'll hear sure to hear the sounds of nature’s music, including the birds chirping a song and the sound of the Turkey River flowing close by.
As you stroll along, the fresh breeze will fill your lungs. You may spot a robin pulling a wiggly earthworm from the moist soil or see a squirrel scamper up a tree.
After your hike or bike ride, get a fire started and enjoy the smells and sights of a freshly lite campfire. Before long, it will be time to have supper and sit around the warm fire. Does your family enjoy roasting marshmallows, making s’mores, telling spooky ghost stories, or singing songs?
Relax as you sit under the twinkling stars in the moon lite sky. When it’s time for bed, crawl under the soft sheets and lay your head down on a fluffy pillow. Wow. What an amazing day your family had in Elkader.
Come to Deer Run Resort for your first camping experience this year!
