FREE Summer Fun in Okoboji

Summer fun can sometimes be costly.

However, summer fun at the Dickinson County Nature Center is free!

That includes the monthly Nature Tots program as well as the summer Nature Explorers programs for elementary-aged students.

The ever-popular Nature Tots program, for ages 2-5, expands in June, July, and August with three programs the second Wednesday of each month. Choose from a 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. time slot.

Each month has a different theme, and the summer Nature Tots themes will be Summer Solstice, Prairie Colors, and Raindrops in the Clouds. Toddlers and guardians will spend time exploring the outdoors, playing games, making crafts and learning about nature.

Elementary-aged students can take part in Nature Explorers classes 10:30 a.m. June 13 and 27, July 11 and Aug. 8. Themes include FIRE!, Be Nature Aware, Animal Ambassadors: Behind the Scenes and Let’s Get Muddy. Be sure to wear old clothes for the Aug. 8 mud program.

Nature Tots and Nature Explorers are free programs and last approximately one hour each. Guardians need to stay with toddlers during Nature Tots, but Nature Explorers can be dropped off and picked up at the end of the program.

Call 712-336-6352 to pre-register for summer programs at the Dickinson County Nature Center, as each program is limited at 25 participants.

Amazing Post! Fun is the food of the heart. Thanks, Dickinson County Nature Center for this great initiative. The nature exploring program will help the children to have a fresh mind with vast knowledge. So parents should take this program on warmly. We pass a very monotonous life. I try to have a nature tour every year when I get free time from When I returned from nature, it accelerates my working process. Nature tour works like fuel. Thank you.!
