Enjoy the Original Big Grove Brewery in Solon

While Big Grove Brewery recently added to its brand by opening a restaurant in Iowa City, don’t make the mistake of overlooking the original Big Grove Brewery in Solon. The moment you walk inside, it has that feeling of rustic chic that is really inviting. If you’re just out for a night of drinks with friends, the ample bar area will more than accommodate you and your party. With over ten in-house brews (some available seasonally and others on tap every day), why not order a beer flight to sample several brews? Perhaps an order of Korean BBQ Wings will be just the compliment to your beer tasting adventure.

If you are inclined to celebrate a special occasion, then Big Grove has just the atmosphere to make it a night you’ll savor for years to come. While I enjoy the Seared Cod Sandwich, there are several more gourmet selections that will tempt even the ficklest palate. Perhaps the Miso Glazed Salmon is what turns on your taste buds. For dessert, you might want to go back to your days of unspoiled youth and ordered the Milk & Cookies. (Even adults love malted milk and dunking.) Or perhaps you crave lighter fare. The Roasted Beets with Rhubarb and Strawberries might just be the answer to your dining dilemma with a concoction of flavors you won’t soon forget. Paired with their Panna Cotta that incorporates a strawberry rhubarb compote, it’s truly an unforgettable meal.

If the weather’s clear, you might want to secure a table in the lovely outdoor seating area that overlooks the ever-expanding downtown of Solon. Even into autumn, they have the area open with an outdoor fire pit to keep you warm when the leaves begin to change color. That makes it a great place to stop after the Hawkeyes score that winning touchdown. Or head back inside to watch the game in the bar area among your fellow patrons decked out in black and gold.

Big Grove Brewery has great beer, but they also have a big heart. BGB for Good is committed to giving back to deserving non-profits, so you know that some of your dining dollars will likely land right back in the Iowa communities you love.

Whether you’re searching for casual or gourmet or something in between, you can find it at Big Grove Brewery. If you haven’t tried it, you owe it to yourself to make the drive. It might just become your go-to place in all seasons.
