“We hold an annual Earth Day Celebration at the Dickinson County Nature Center, and this year we thought it would be fun to switch it up and partner with West O and UpDog Trivia,” said Kiley Roth, community relations coordinator for the Dickinson County Conservation Board. “West O has graciously offered to donate 20% of its evening’s proceeds to support the nature center for its Give Back Night, and we are so very grateful for the kindness and generosity.”
“I think it’s always good to give back,” said Tyler Shuck, West O tasting room manager.
Support the Dickinson County Nature Center by participating in a free Earth Day Celebration trivia night with UpDog Trivia 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at West O Beer in West Okoboji.
“We’re glad we can do a partnership, get awareness for the nature center, West O and UpDog,” said Holli Zimmerman, who runs the local trivia company with her husband, Michael.
Up to 20 teams of one-six players can participate in the trivia contest which will feature six rounds of nature-themed questions about pollinators, Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax,” water quality, Earth-related music and more.
After each round of 10 questions, there will also be bonus questions to earn fun prizes. Plus, the top three teams for the evening will earn special prize packages from local sponsors, and UpDog Trivia will provide a Top Dog trophy to the first place team and a Bless Your Heart trophy to the last place team.
UpDog Trivia holds weekly trivia nights at the West O's craft brewery, and people keep coming back.
“It’s been really positive,” Shuck said. “We have a bunch of returning players.”
Come early April 18 to claim your team’s spot and get ready to have fun and to win plenty of great prizes. All ages are welcome at the brewery, and people can also bring dinner or snacks to eat during the festivities.
“We’re excited to celebrate Earth Day in a new way, and we’re excited to challenge our staff with the questions UpDog Trivia will ask too,” Roth said. “It’s going to be a really fun evening.”
