The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden helps us explore and celebrate the gentle plant world. The garden is located in central Iowa to the east of the Des Moines River. The plan for the garden was initially laid in 1929. However, history had different ideas, and the garden was finally opened in 1979. The garden was initially managed by the City of Des Moines. Currently, the Des Moines Water Works Department is the guardian of the beautiful landscape.
The garden is an excellent facility to enjoy plants in all kinds of weather by offering both in indoors and outdoors. The primary aim of the greenhouse garden is to create an awareness about plant ecosystems by providing encounters with botanical wonders for visitors. The garden offers an incredible experience for horticulture enthusiasts.
The inside observatory offers encounters with some of the exotic species from the plant world including wild orchids. Horticultural shows usually happen outdoors, and they are exquisitely themed to honor the seasons.
