It’ll be a tail-wagging good time in Algona, Iowa, on June 20 as Kossuth Animal Rescue takes the pavement for their annual Wag the Dog 5K/Fun Walk. Whether your dog jumps up at the mention of a walk or you have one that maybe needs to drop a few pounds, this easy fun walk is ideal for them! As a fundraiser for the Kossuth Animal Rescue, this event helps raise money for a future animal shelter while letting dogs enjoy their favorite part of the day. For the runner with no pets, the route is relatively flat and is easy to go at your own pace. All entrants will be given their time at the end, allowing you to work on your personal best record. The dog walk is a shorter route than the 5k for the runners, so no worries that you’ll tire your pet out.
Registration takes place at Veterans Park Shelter House from 7:15am-7:50am, with the race starting at 8am sharp. Veterans Park is located just south of McDonald’s and has a great dog park. All participating dogs must be on a leash and up-to-date on their vaccinations, including a proof of rabies vaccination. It is also recommended that dogs have kennel cough and influence vaccines.
The Kossuth Animal Rescue is a group of volunteers raising money for a shelter in the Kossuth County area. Their ultimate goal is to raise enough money through donations, fundraisers, grants, and the adoptions of animals to eventually build a much needed shelter in Kossuth County.
Early bird entry for the race/walk ends June 5.
