January and February tend to be those months that drag along, in the midst of the cold, snow, and a general feeling of gloom. No fear – there is so much to fill those cold days, right here in the Iowa City area. Here are a few ways to make this time of the year a bit more memorable.

Winter Games and Good Cheer
North Liberty has gotten creative and is introducing a new event called Beat the Bitter, which is set for Saturday, February 6 at Penn Meadows Park (currently referred to as "the tundra", for the event). The following outdoor events will fill the afternoon, so be sure to register online:
- Indomitable Snow Run
- Porcupines’ Revenge Obstacle Course
- Siberian Scavenger Hunt
- kickball tournament
- fat tire bike races
What else would one do in a huge park with a winter chill in the air, after all? And there’s no better way for some adult good cheer than to warm up at Red’s Alehouse for a drink or two. Find out more at BeatTheBitter.com.
