Over 500 tractors of all different makes and models will be rolling into Central Iowa Sunday, June 28 for a three day tractor ride. Ames and Boone are pleased to be hosts for the 19th annual WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride. The ride will take place Monday, June 29 through Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Participants will arrive at the Central Iowa Expo site on Sunday, June 28 and will be staying in the Ames area. The new and restored tractors will take daily trips around central Iowa and will return to the Expo site each evening. They will also be on display at the event’s headquarters, which is located at the Central Iowa Expo site east of Boone at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 30, so you’ll get a chance to check out all these unique and historic models.
During the ride participants will be riding their tractors through six different towns located around central Iowa. The first day, Monday, June 29th, they will be going through Story City and will stop at Eby Trailers where you can walk around and view all the different tractors as well as meet with the participants. The next stop is Ames, where they will stop at the Hansen Ag Learning Center. The second day, Tuesday, June 30, they will ride through Kelley stopping at Key Cooperative, then they will ride through Huxley and stop at the new Monsanto Huxley Learning Center, and finally Madrid, where they will stop at Ledges State Park. The last day of the ride, Wednesday, July 1, they will head towards Boone, stopping at the Boone County Fairgrounds and the Boone Middle School. The participants and their tractors will conclude the 19th annual WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride back at the Central Iowa Expo site.
