Shopping in Clayton County: Small Town Charm Mixed with Big City Choice

Shopping excursions to big cities can be stressful. Traffic and crowded stores can bring a damper to your day. You do it anyway because you want to find the unique treasures that you can’t find anywhere else…but have you been to Clayton County?

The abundant boutique, antique and gift shops in Clayton County combine small town charm with all the choices you could find in the big city. Whether you’re looking for a specific item, gift ideas or something you didn’t know you needed, you can find it in Clayton County!

Bridge Street Boutique & Gift in Elkader offers kitchenware, clothing for many different ages and home décor that will make everyone in your neighborhood jealous. Then head down to the Copper Frog for trendy styles and sparkling accessories—both new and used.

Once you step foot in Paper Moon in McGregor, you’ll never want to leave! The three stories of books and knick-knacks is the ultimate place for therapy shopping.

Head to Guttenberg next to visit Kann Imports which is a one-of-a-kind gift shop featuring exotic, historic and every day beautiful items. They’ve been in Guttenberg since 1947 and are home to unique pieces and statues from all around the world.

Schoolhouse Antiques and Barr House Antiques in Marquette will have you feeling like you are in another era. You’ll be able to find something old, something new and something special just for you.

Clayton County also is the perfect quilter’s retreat. Quilted Strawberry in Strawberry Point offers classes and quilting kits that will help you create a masterpiece. Suhdron Fabrics in Monona has 20,000 bolts of fabrics that people travel to see from all over the country.

Clayton County offers a relaxing shopping getaway. Travel the Great River Road and River Bluffs Scenic Byway through the beautiful Northeast Iowa scenery and along the mighty Mississippi River from shop to shop. Drop the rest of the family off at either Pikes Peak State Park or Backbone State Park. When you pick them up they’ll have to squeeze in between all your shopping bags!

Check out all the shops and everything Clayton County has to offer at the Clayton County Development Group website or all the shopping in Northeast Iowa at Visit Iowa.
