The orchard recently expanded their operations after building Rapid Creek Cidery. The cidery opens up new opportunities for Wilson’s by providing an event venue on-site as well as a large restaurant space to serve food and drink to patrons. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available at the cidery, and the menu includes “simple food that reflects our interest in produce grown with care, animals treated with respect, and a well-curated pantry.” Rapid Creek also hosts events such as live music performances. You can see the Murftones perform on September 24th and Joe & Vicki Price on October 29th. See the cidery’s calendar for more details.
The main attraction for most families, however, is the apples. Apple-picking season is in full swing from August until October. Different types of apples are available for picking as they become ripe throughout the season. You can pick all kinds from Galas to Honeycrisps to Song of Septembers. Don’t forget to pick up a fresh apple turnover, some apple cider donuts, and – of course – a jug of fresh apple cider before you go!
Aside from picking apples, families can enjoy a tractor tour through the orchard. The driver will entrance you with stories about the alligator in the creek, Robin Hood’s secret hideout, and other possibly tall tales.
Come check out the orchard August through October from 10 am to 6 pm daily. You can also check out Rapid Creek Cidery during their hours of operation Wednesday through Saturday 5 pm to 9 pm or Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm.
