Been to the beach? Been to an adventure park? Most people can answer yes to both of those questions, but can you say you’ve ever been to a Truckers Jamboree? Most of you have heard of the Iowa 80 Truckstop, better known as The World’s Largest Truckstop. But have you heard about the annual celebration of truckers – the Walcott Truckers Jamboree? By definition a jamboree is a large party, and who doesn’t like a party!?
Some might think, "I’m not a trucker, I don’t have a trucker closely related to me, this is just not for me". But that’s where you’re wrong. The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is for everyone! This celebration began in 1979 and has been growing ever since! This is a three-day long parking lot party filled with Super Trucks of all kinds, over 175 exhibits to check out, carnival games, live music, good food, fireworks, and so much more! Click here to see the full schedule.
This year’s Walcott Truckers Jamboree takes place Thursday, July 9th to Saturday, July 11th. Natalie Stovall & The Drive will be performing on Thursday at 7:00 p.m., fireworks following. Lindsay Lawler and The Josh Abbott Band will take the stage on Friday night with more fireworks to follow.
This year, the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum is also hosting a 100th Birthday Party for the 1915 Mack AB on Friday, July 10th at 2:00 p.m. Cake and goodies will be available!
Oh, and did we mention it was FREE!? That’s right, the whole thing is free admission and free parking available for you! This event is a great place to celebrate and learn about trucking and those big rigs. It’s our way of saying thank you to the millions of truck drivers that deliver the goods we consume, whether it’s groceries, gas, clothes or cars — you can bet it was delivered by a truck.
