When you go out for dinner, you expect superior food and a great evening; and Council Bluffs delivers on your anticipation.
The city has two exceptional culinary employees who have been recognized by the Iowa Restaurant Association. When you visit Pizza King, server Vasili Fountas and cook Steve Bartelt ensure a top notch dining experience every time.
These two Pizza King team members were recognized on April 5th as Iowa Restaurant Association “2016 Stars of Hospitality”. To receive the recognition, restaurant employees must have worked in the same hospitality establishment for over twenty years. Pizza King is a favorite local, family owned dinner spot since 1965, and Fountas and Bartelt have been team members there for more than two decades.
In presenting the honor, Iowa Restaurant Board President and CEO Jessica Dunker commented, “Iowa’s restaurant industry is the virtual welcome mat for our state, particularly in border communities like Council Bluffs…they serve as the face of hospitality, welcoming people to their community and our state.”
The two were presented their awards at the restaurant in Council Bluffs by local restauranteur and Iowa Restaurant Board Chairman Matt Johnson, and Dunker, who is based in Des Moines.
The Iowa Restaurant Association is an advocacy organization supporting Iowa’s hospitality industry with educational and promotional programs across the state.
