The Festival of Trees is a popular free holiday event for families in Ames and surrounding communities to enjoy together. It brings people to the Main Street Cultural District, promotes local businesses in downtown Ames and showcases the exhibits at the Octagon. Again this year, the Octagon Center for the Arts will be hosting and organizing this special event in the Main Gallery. Last year, over 1800 people viewed the 60 artistically decorated trees and wreaths. Festival of Trees will kick-off this year on Friday, November 13 from 5 - 8 pm held in conjunction with Snow Magic in the Main Street Cultural District. Visit SANTA from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, November 13! The Trees and wreaths will be on display through November 29. Viewing Hours are Monday – Friday 10 am – 5pm and Saturday & Sunday 1 – 5 pm. CLOSED for Thanksgiving November 26 and 27.
Trees and wreaths decorated by local businesses, groups, and individuals will be displayed and about 25 trees and wreaths donated by the businesses will be up for silent auction with proceeds benefiting Octagon art education programs and scholarships. A display of 80 artwork items donated by area artists will also be up for silent auction during the Festival of Trees. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit art education programs at the Octagon Center for the Arts.

The Octagon Center the Arts is a non-profit community arts organization located at 427 Douglas Avenue in downtown Ames Main Street Cultural District. The Octagon has been a cornerstone of the cultural scene in Ames since 1966. The venue serves more than 30,000 people annually through education classes and outreach programs, rotating exhibits, retail gallery shop, and special events such as the annual Octagon Art Festival and the holiday Festival of Trees.
