Just northwest of Des Moines in the town of Woodward you can find a mother-daughter team creating small batches of bath and beauty products using fresh, natural, food-grade ingredients. Their business is Prairieland Herbs.
Prairieland Herbs has about two acres of land full of gardens and their kitchen is full of bags of herbs, jars of honey, buckets of oatmeal, salt, sugar and, well, I won’t keep going because I think you get the idea.
Woodward is also home to a Artisan goat cheese processing farm known as Northern Prairie Chevre and Picket Fence Creamery producing milk, butter, ice cream, cheese curds and more. It’s also a great place to get on your bike and enjoy the High Trestle Trail and bridge.
Prairieland Herbs is a featured destination in the Iowa Lottery’s newest game with Mike Wolfe, original American Picker. In the second chance drawing, the Iowa Lottery will be giving away various prizes including items from Mike’s favorite Iowa picks. Mike’s picks are being revealed weekly until the drawing at the end of June. Come back to our blog each Friday to learn about his favorite Iowa locations! Learn more about the Mike’s Picks game here.
