Mississippi River Distilling Company‘s spirits are “made for you, not for the masses.”
In LeClaire, Iowa in 2010, two brothers decided to take a chance on a dream. The combination of land and water that LeClaire offers inspired them to create homegrown, handmade spirits with the freshest local ingredients. They practice, what they call “grain to glass” and offer an up-close and personal tour of their facility that will take you through every step of turning these local grains into your favorite Mississippi River Distilling Company (MRDC) liquors.
They have five staple spirits: River Pilot Vodka, River Rose Gin, River Baron Artisan Spirit, Cody Road Bourbon and Cody Road Rye as well as eight seasonal products.
Fun Fact: Their Cody Road Bourbon Whiskey is named in honor of William “Buffalo Bill” Cody – who was born in LeClaire in 1846. Cody Road Bourbon has a remarkably unique flavor and the signature smoothness people have come to expect from MDRC.
Stop in to their retail shop that features handmade products, glassware, apparel and other souvenirs. And while you’re there, don’t miss out on one of their daily, FREE public tours between noon and 4 PM at the top of the hour. And, yes, each tour ends in their stunning tasting room for free samples!
