If you are looking for a destination to sample a variety of craft beers, look no further than Greater Des Moines. In the past year, Iowa’s capital city had 3 new breweries open which compliment the 5 that were already popular watering holes.
Exile Brewing Company and Confluence Brewing Company are the two newest editions to Downtown Des Moines. Both offer hand-crafted beers with their unique flavors and are available at their brewery; as well as, restaurants and brew pubs around the state. Confluence has also made their beers available in cans to take on the go and Exile features a full-service restaurant. Raccoon River Brewing Company and Court Avenue Restaurant and Brewing Co. are also downtown breweries that include full-service restaurants while Madhouse Brewing Company offers their craft beers at the Jasper Winery.
Along the western edge of Des Moines you’ll find the newest brewery promising to take your palate on a beer adventure – 515 Brewing Company. Don’t overlook nearby Granite City Food and Brewery or Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery. Both businesses may be names that you are familiar with outside of Iowa, but offer unique twists and exceptional beer craftsmanship.
You can find many of these breweries and so many more at the Iowa Craft Beer Festival on June 22. Sample your way down the Locust Street Bridge and enjoy the unique flavors of Iowa. Cheers!
